One of his best, and really the album were he found his sound. His 1st album was an ok r&b album, his 2nd was a great r&b album, but still not very different from what others were doing. But this was the #MinneapolisSound. 💜

We've lost another beautiful soul in the Minneapolis Sound family. Pepe Willie (July 22, 1948-June 1, 2025) was one of Prince's main mentors. He was there in the early days, supporting and guiding Prince and his incredible talent. Pepe helped Prince learn how to craft a song to make it a hit. He was also the first person to hire Prince as a session musician to play with his band, 94
East. Kristen and I had the honor of meeting him on several occasions. He was always warm, engaging, and as bright as his beautiful smile! Rest in peace, Pepe.
