Centrists and moderates, what have you done for America lately?
Reminds me of the white moderates MLK warned about so many years ago.
Just useless.

a lot of "moderates" are just people in cities or progressive circles who don't like being part of a low status right, imo
there are real moderates, but they tend to be much weirder than this

Self-described “moderates” and mainlining right-wing bullshit and lies. Name a more iconic duo.

truly, do senate moderates wake up every day with a horse kick to the head?
"A development that appeared to break the logjam: Republicans proposed that healthcare funding be provided directly to households rather than used to pay for a 1-year extension of ACA subsidies. That involves sending federal money into FSAs instead of insurance companies" www.wsj.com/politics/pol...
Republicans Pitch Alternative to ACA Extension to End Government Shutdown
A proposal by GOP senators to send money directly to consumers’ health accounts rather than to insurance companies showed signs of breaking a stalemate on negotiations.

OK great, then the poll-obsessed moderates will support the next leftist mayoral candidate rather than trying to tank their candidacy, right?

For the left, there’s a fracture between neoliberals and progressives.
For the right, it’s between Nazis and moderates.
Progressives and moderates are finding common ground in resistance.
Currently can’t tell if establishment Dems will join the Nazis in the minority or the People in the majority.

What was the damn point of the shutdown? People missed paychecks, families went without SNAP, and Democrats walked away with nothing.
This isn’t about moderates versus the far left. It’s about who’s actually fighting for people who are struggling.
She nails where so many of us are right now.

The thing @schumer.senate.gov appears to be doing where he gets everybody who’s retiring or was just sworn in to a six-year term to vote yes so he and a bunch more moderates can vote “no” to appear more progressive than they are is so insulting lol

There's moderates like Newsom who absolutely do suck but seem to understand that power exists and is important, and then there's moderates like Manchin that genuinely seem to have rocks in place of the space between their ears, unfortunately, almost every elected moderate is in the latter category
I think tonight shows why “moderate to win elections” is a real risk
the big divide in the Dem caucus, as many have noted, has been less moderate vs progressive than fight versus don’t fight
but it’s not a coincidence that basically everyone in the “don’t fight” camp is a moderate

I actually think chucking out moderates will make Democrats *more* electable; nobody wants to vote for a party full of losers who don’t believe in anything

Funny watching the actions of Dem moderates radicalize Matt.
This is what's so aggravating — yes, it was not working in extracting a policy concession but it was working in *driving down trump's numbers and provoking GOP infighting* which is what's important if you take Dem rhetoric about the perils of MAGA remotely seriously.
weirdly honest messaging from the breakaway mod/institutionalist leaders who blew up the party strategy
they're explicitly giving up. "It wasn't working so we quit" that's the message

left gets to rail against moderates, new blood candidates get to fundraise, many moderates still get to claim they’re not “folders”

Moderates are caving because the shutdown is uncomfortable, and the definition of being a moderate is not being willing to take a principled, uncomfortable stance on anything.
