Pro tip: Affirmations make great passphrases.

Ask yourself: what's a short idea or principle I want to repeat to myself every day?
Take that, put it in title case, add some special characters, and boom, you've got a passphrase

Hey communicators - Need a fresh idea for Pi Day?
(That's Friday 3/14)
It's a great day for pie charts!

There are a zillion charts out there, but if you have your own data, pie charts are super easy to make in Excel (with your brand colors!)

Soul-searching question for my communication comrades: is your email program building community or increasing spam and cynicism?

#npcomms
REMINDER: If your campaign's engagement strategy is indistinguishable from commercial spam you are "poisoning the well" of grassroots support and actually undermining collective power-building. Being annoying does get people’s attention just not the type that leads to positive change. Please stop.

Belated reminder to digital and social media managers:
Turn off your scheduled posts / email sendouts for today.

Unless you had baskets of puppies scheduled.

Long shot, but I'll put it out there: Does anyone know of a way to view all your installed fonts, including Adobe fonts, grouped by type? (e.g. sans serif, handwriting, decorative, geometric) This would be on a PC.
Or have a hack for keeping track of fonts?

Hey friends and communicators: I got a notice that Facebook is updated its Terms. Has anyone read the new terms closely for any implications for digital safety, privacy, and impacts on the nonprofit/progressive community?

Hey comms friends: If you ever wanted to try a screen reader to test out your org's accessibility but didn't know where to get started, this is the guide you need:

#npcomms #SciComm #Accessibility
Manual testing with a screen reader will help you catch and fix accessibility issues that can't be identified by automated tests. Sara Soueidan has a great guide on various screen readers and how to set them up on your computer.

Y'ALL. This is TRANSFORMATIVE. You pick the picture to go with that article

#NPcomms
Tip: If you want to talk about a news article but the social card has an image that you don't feel like sharing, you can just delete the card and add whatever picture you want.

No little card summary but on the upside, no more Sam Altman's Big Doofy Head.

heads up to communicators to use stock photos… read the whole thread

#NPcomms #NPtech #SciComm
I've used Shutterstock for years, thinking that a stock photo subscription would prevent this.

Just a heads up to anyone who uses stock photos of any kind, the vast majority of these sites use AI now, most without including a filter, or some just ignore the filter.

Today, in forensic tab discovery, I found this tab among hundreds of others on my computer, but have no idea why I have it:

The URL tags reveal that it came from Beth Becker's political-social grab-bag email in June of 2023 (2023!)

At this point, when I see the X logo on a progressive organization's website, it's a bit of a red flag.
Either they don't see the problem with being active on X, or they do, but they don't have the comms staffing/infrastructure to move their presence to Bluesky and to update their website

Does anyone else wish IFF had taken off for use in casual and work emails/chats/text?

IFF it would be helpful to you, we could meet =
