The crisis rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has taken a dramatic turn as the Senator Samuel Anyanwu–led National Working Committee (NWC) announced the counter-suspension of the party’s Acting National Chairman, Amb. Umar Damagum, over alleged incompetence, misappropriation of party funds, and pursuit of personal interests. Also suspended are the National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and the Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, among other top party officials.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has finally split into two factions after the party's National Working Committee, NWC, decided to suspend the party's National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, and three other members of the party. The party's National Working Committee (NWC) had earlier decided to suspend Anyanwu and three others at an emergency meeting on Saturday. The party announced that this is in accordance with the provision of Sections 58 and 59 of the PDP Constitution (as amended in 2017).
