Massimo Vignelli's 1966 signage system for the NYCTA might be a good analogy here. In long corridors, they had some simple signs early on: things like uptown/downtown, to help people get into the right lane of pedestrian traffic early. Then, as you approached the junction, more specific information.

My argument is that you have to do the politics and technocratic proposals don't fix the politics.
The NYCTA was seriously running the 2nd Ave Subway with different crews under a different union and contract, Those are the sort of political fixes we need more of in the discourse.

I'm also not familiar with a requirement that agencies must take cash but I've never checked. (MBTA may have one due to Mass's stupid must-take-cash law, and I doubt NYC's law applies to NYCTA.)

Would you wear this jumpsuit? It was standard issue for the NYCTA (New York City Transit Authority) Clean Car Team in the 1980s. The uniform comes with a zip front, six pockets, elastic waist, belt, and two embroidered patches. For safety, the sleeves and back have reflective stripes.

Also since NYCTA hires ex-cons, they wouldn’t be permitted to do fare enforcement, so that winnows down the group further, and most won’t meet the requirements to work in maintenance of way or car maintenance.
So there isn’t exactly a hiding place anymore, esp with CBTC/ATS nuking tower operators..

I love Class 90s - such pretty trains, and some of the last trains built by British Rail before being privatised, and they're electric beasts at that. What's not to love?!
