Hoo said that? 🦉

As Autumn kicks in, tawny owls begin to compete for territory as the younger birds mature. Listen out for their noisy night-time arguments as they display to one another – a more subtle sign of #NatureInFlux. 🗣️

Have you got tawny owls living in your area? 🤔

Honk honk! 🪿

You might hear this sign of #NatureInFlux before you see it – skeins of pink-footed geese arriving en masse for their winter holiday. Look out for their V-formation flight and pink legs 🦵🏻🦵🏻

Have you seen huge flocks overhead? 🤔

As we dive further into September, you may have started to see European hornets more often, as their colonies become a hive of activity 😄

They might be big and noisy with painful stings, but they're incredibly wary of humans and are an important part of the ecosystems they occupy😊

Did you know that a group of goldfinches is called a 'charm'? 🥰✨

Look out for these charmers as they gather together in larger groups from this month onwards – another lovely sign of #NatureInFlux 🐦

Did you know that jays bury food such as acorns and other seeds for use in the winter months? 🤯

Look out for this clever behaviour over the coming weeks, especially in woodland areas – another brilliant example of #NatureInFlux 🍂

Have you seen other autumnal changes? 🤔

Ssshh! If you're really quiet (or just really lucky), you may catch a glimpse of a foraging wood mouse this month 🐁🌰

Look out for empty nut shells with neat circular holes chiselled into the sides – a clear sign of #NatureInFlux, as these mice try to build up food caches

A sure sign of #NatureInFlux, we're currently in cranefly breeding season.

Here are some of the species you're most likely to see (don't worry about getting a closer look – they're totally harmless!) 🥰

Have you got craneflies in your home? 🤔

Berries, watch out – hungry birds are about! 😋

A sure sign of #NatureInFlux, redwings and fieldfares arrive in the UK to feast on the berry bounty of #Autumn

Listen out for the redwing 'tsee' call, which differs greatly from the harsher 'chack-chack' of the fieldfare 🎶
