#NonConformist
Why would that be a bad thing? Persuasive or provocative words are an incredibly potent force multiplier. A good writer is worth a *lot* to a movement, especially if said writer is respected & enabled.

Ever read "The Transformed Nonconformist", the sermon by Dr. King?

We are often told that individualism actually supports personal choice, but what it means is "I'm a nonconformist... just like all my friends!". So there is a collective function, just without all the good stuff like community and collective wellbeing.

The funny thing about attempts to link Yud and Calvinism is that nobody has ever noticed the *actual, direct, and obvious connection* between them: Bayes' Theorem was invented by a Nonconformist (post-Puritan) minister named Richard Price (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard...)

I keep learning new words and British metaphors from reading the George Smiley books. I am on #2 and went down a rabbit hole on the usages of "Chapel" and "Nonconformist" last night. I also learned the word "stile" in a context other than turnstile, and that "hock" is slang for Rhine wine.

yes but whyyyy

my belief is that the autist / rationalist / trans venn diagram is *not* explicable purely in terms of "well these are the people most likely to recognise and act on nonconformist impulses", but also that nobody has the faintest idea why else this might be
i think he's making a slight mistake regarding the base rate in that he, uh, underestimates how strong of a filter being socially adjacent to him is

We were all scarred by these tragic deaths when we were growing up. John Lennon was much more than a BeatleHe displayed a rebellious nature and a disdain for authority and hypocrisy. He was a nonconformist who was willing to challenge established norms, and that is perhaps why he became a target

In a profession that claims to celebrate nonconformity, he was a true iconoclast.

that person is not "a they/them" or "a they," they are either a nonbinary person or a gender nonconformist. they USE they/them, their pronouns are not their gender identity. anyone can use they/them. there are different flavours of nonbinary. plenty of nb people are occasionally men, women, or both.

It rings so true man. Like I try to oppose trans people but as a child all my characters were gender nonconformist robots.

The closest was made of glass. I have always loved that freak shit. I love Le Guin because they speak to humans who are without shame. It’s so cool

He was from a nonconformist family, ie: not affiliated to the Church of England, and thus independent in thinking. One of my specialisms at Uni was 17th Century English Lit (excluding Shakespeare, who had his own course.)

So, there's my preamble.

That’s so interesting- I never had the impress that RLS was a racist. More an eccentric nonconformist.

I’m looking again at brick walls concerning 2 of my female ancestors. Can’t find a baptism for Sarah Debney c1791 in Suffolk. Today I bought a transcription of nonconformist records & there was only 1 Debney - not her! I’ve contacted the local Baptist chapel for advice #GenHour

Dr. Wayne Dyer said I think society honors its conformists then they’re living and their dead trouble makers.

Be a good troublemaker;)

Be a nonconformist.

Surrender your ego.

Good morning Bluesky!

Gardeners are adrift in that nameless dream-time between the harvest and the arrival of new seed catalogs. A couple of nonconformist seed wishbooks have already sneaked into my mailbox, however.

Tomatoes from a previous harvest. The slices look like flowers. Dreamy.

As a pants-wearing woman

with friends, family and kids who are

gender nonconformist

nonbinary

trans

Or cis males who like to wear dresses because they are more comfy than button down shirts and suits (TRUTH)

What if -hot take- saying a man wears a women’s jacket wasn’t such a big deal?

Whoso would be a man, must be a nonconformist. He who would gather immortal palms must not be hindered by the name of goodness, but must explore it if it be goodness. Nothing is at last sacred but the integrity of your own mind. Absolve you to yourself, and you shall have the suffrage of the world.
