My notary appointment for today got moved to Monday only AFTER i got fully Chicago style bundled and layered enough to waddle up there. Not fanciful at all.

0/10 Official fanciful score. NOT FANCIFUL!

Random Fact

Leonardo’s full name is

“Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci”

Which roughly translates to:

Leonardo who was “born” in the town of Vinci whose father is the Legal Notary Piero

Leonardo was from a the long line of … “lawyers” … but could not train as such due to being illegitimate.

Under the laws at the time Leonardo could not inherit or become a Legal Notary due to being illegitimate so Piero invested directly in Leonardo’s artistic interests and paid for him to go to Florence to learn the arts under Andrea del Verrocchio.
Leonardo’s was apparently actually born in a smaller hamlet near Vinci and you can see the naming convention in his father’s name who was “Piero di ser Antonio da Vinci” … these Legal Notary roles where often taught to legitimate sons.

The bargaining over the swap must be fun. One wife, some bitcoin, a weekend at the cabin in Lake City. I want to be the notary.

Notary: "I attest that *holds signature a millimeter away from face* Katie Bayler signed this"

Cut to: Jenna holding a not convincing balloon sculpture of Katie

Jenna: "Yes, that is correct"

Btw fun thing, Cyrillic (Bosančica, Russian, and Serbian) has different equally fucked up ways to write, so does hand written / notary Glagoljica.

Either way, why Šišmiš? As in all four scripts the words is just... Moment while I pull out my remarkable and write it down for lulz.

The Polish composer, lawyer and notary Bernhard Blau (born #OTD in 1881) was a lecturer in commercial law, construction and land law from March 15, 1946 to November 2, 1950. He was listed in the anti-Semitic text, Judentum und Musik by Hans Bruckner.

Had to redo a loan assumption closing because the mobile notary that drove up from Jacksonville to Savannah had us use black ink when blue ink was required.

I hate real estate stuff.

Me: "But every single website, including the department of revenue says 'even if exempt, you need to fill this out'"

Notary: *Sigh* "You don't need it"

This thread is a good complement to the discussions of Congress fixing the damage the Roberts Court does, and would do, with their endorsement of the notary executive theory and presidential removal.

The concept of a notary public is very funny to me. A guy who has been given legal authority to be like “yeah dude he totally signed that thing in front of me, word is bond”
December 4, 2025 at 10:21 PM
incidentally if you want to be a chiropractor so bad, just become a notary public and notarize people's encounters with ghosts and whatnot. you barely even have to take a test. probably if you as a notary public punch someone in the spine for money and they die you're just as bulletproof

Pretty sure most of my following is only here for the thirst traps (that’s fine, carry on). Just in case anyone was wondering, I did pass! I did the California notary exam so I can volunteer with a local organization.
Tonight I’m actually going to study for the exam I have on Saturday… Who am I kidding I know I’m just going to grind Silksong and get my ass whooped another 200 times 🪡💃

My dad was a notary & randos would show up at our house asking him to officiate their wedding. I got to go to a lot of strangers' weddings this way. I found it wildly entertaining.

We went through this whole ordeal where I was trying to ask them what specifically they would need the notary to attest, and they kept saying "just write a letter and ask a notary to sign it," and I was repeatedly explaining that I've tried that before and a notary will not do it, and I was […]
