Not long before the start of "Fog of War", Interstar destroyed 3 Marcallan colonies. Those who gave the order likened it to Hiroshima and Nagasaki. However, given Marcalla culture/personality, many, including Jason, felt it would galvanize more than demoralize.

Shoulder patches on Kapon medics.
Kapon military uniforms have colored segments on their shoulders that indicate general field of duty. Not super specific in many cases, but general. Like Kapon medics have white.
The story has not told me the reasoning behind it yet.

That. :) I don't know a ton about the religion around Galla, but the story has told me that much.

day 4 of #novemberworldbuilder - something green.

Phulleton are ungulate ruminants similar to sheep; however, a significant difference is that phulleton have modified keratin structures on their back. The animals absorb chlorophyll from grass and store it in these pseudoleaves (for food & energy).

Accents and highlights in Marcallan uniforms.
For Marcalla, green is a color associated with those who fight, and especially with those who lead the fighting. As such, the more green in one's fancy attire, the more involved they are in military matters.

Day 3 of #novemberworldbuilder - something yellow/orange.

Gold ink.

Ink is used for spells as a part of the magic process, particularly those needing a kind of consumable. Some ink itself is imbued with magical properties.

Holdren fur.
Their fur patterns range from various mixes of a darker sandy gold, medium orange, and often white undersides to varying degrees. The only marking that is universal is red tail tips for all, and also red tail bands just below the tips for all males.

Day 2 of #novemberworldbuilder, “something that is blue”.

Bluecaps: a mushroom-like fungus that grows in caves, hanging from strings. Their glow is a mixture of bioluminescence and magic. In some communities, they are gathered from caves and placed into jars to use as light sources in the night.

Xyera's fur.
She's an elemental dragon, so she is fully furred, and her primary color is blue. Most elemental dragons are lighter colors like that, though blue is pretty common for them.

The tail tips of Holdrens.
It's more than just a random marking. The red fibers are actually somewhat crystal like, and serve to focus/affect the energy they can expel.
Males have a band of the same fibers below the tip. Mostly used to put on a display to attract a mate.
