My Oak Eggar caterpillars are still munching bramble leaves and have grown to around 3cm now. As they’re still active and eating I’m presuming they’re not ready to dig down for overwintering? Anyone know if there’s a temperature that triggers them to do this! #TeamMoth #OakEggar #caterpilar

Spotted Lasiocampa quercus (oak eggar) on a hike in the Stubaital 🇦🇹
These hairy caterpillars eventually become large moths with 4.5 to 7.5 cm wingspan!
