This #NationalWildlifeWeek, we’re spotlighting species that play an important role in our ecosystems. First, the #OlympiaOyster. The only native oyster on the U.S. West Coast. #CASeaGrant researchers are studying ways to restore them through #conservation #aquaculture efforts.

The #OlympiaOyster is integral to the history of the Salish Coast peoples & was once aggressively harvested to near extinction in San Francisco and the #Seattle area by settlers.
