My personal favorite examples are the secret adventure line hallway from Stanley Parable, and the long hallway from Loboto's level in Psychonauts 2 (which itself is a nod to Stanley Parable).

I think there was a parable Jesus told about this. Can you help me out Christians??
This guy doesn’t give a damn…about any other human being. He doesn’t even pretend like he does. He…is a suit full of BS…and a little of his own.

The Parable Duology by Octavia E. Butler should be required reading and I will not hear otherwise. 🩷

In the MAGA version of the Bible, Jesus miraculously multiplies the loaves and the fishes, then refuses to share the food with a famished crowd and instead ships it all to Argentina.

Yeah, like, of all the prequel films the Phantom Menace is the hardest to defend as a serious story, a timely parable of fascism, a decent star wars movie, or a better use of $10 and a couple hours than buying a couple cans of gas station beer and watching raccoons raid a dumpster.

True, the only thing you need to say to them is: The Sheep and the Goats. If they can't follow that simple parable, they 1 aren't Christian and 2 shouldnt use that book to force their ideologies.

I just don’t understand why every prestige cable drama from the last 15 years has used the Scorpion And The Frog parable if no one’s going to learn from it
Bethany Mandel trying to invite the fascists to her shabbat and having them tell her, "what? no. we're fascists." distills the problem, if anyone needed a summary.

The parable of the scorpion and the frog come to mind. Republicans are what they are and no matter how much they promise to 'be good' we all know it'll end badly, it always does.

It's the most important parable in the entire book. It's so coherent it doesn't require divinity or theology. I'm gobsmacked when self professing christians don't comprehend how simple and profound it is.

I really enjoyed Parable of the Sower by Octavia Butler. It was a different kind of apocalypse, one that said it takes more than one plucky individualist to survive. Also loved the idea that change is the only constant.

Father: “I have bad news. We are out of money.”
Son: “Father, does this mean you will drink less?”
Father: “No, dear child. It means you will eat less.”

Just truly make up the worst sci-fi parable of human shittiness and hubris on a massive scale and Elon Musk is doing it in real life, right now.
65% of all active satellites orbiting our planet are Elon Musk’s Starlink satellites.
He followed the fast fashion model for satellites: launch them fast and launch them frequently.
It’s going to be a space debris annihilation:

It’s going to be a space debris annihilation:
What a nightmare! Chinese astronauts can’t come home because space debris hit their return craft.
The rapidly increasing amount of stuff we launch into space is something everyone should be aware of.

Yeah. It’s because acquiring that hoard of gold required them to slowly erase every non-gold-acquiring aspect of their personas. It’s the Midas parable. His magic touch turned everything to gold but killed everything that was not gold.

Dear @schumer.senate.gov,
Charlie Brown trusting Lucy Van Pelt to hold the football was a parable, not an instruction manual.

One day, the kings of Rockies Land were upset. They were fed up with all their losing! "We must change our ways," the kings said. "We must learn from the world around us. We must set forth to find a more successful team, and hope they will teach us their ways."
