The price of Ethereum has risen more than 13% since December 1, supported by a broader market recovery and growing optimism ahead of today's Fusaka update, which will improve the network's efficiency of processing transactions. ETH is still up 17% over the past month, but the recent recovery and many technical signals are similar to what happened before the Pectra update in May 2025, when Ethereum increased 56% in seven days.

Ethereum is scheduled to activate the Fusaka update on December 3, 2025, at 21:49 UTC, with the implementation of PeerDAS technology. This innovation allows network nodes to store one-eighth of a block's data, with the potential to boost theoretical scalability up to 8x for Layer 2 updates. This marks the second major improvement to the Ethereum network in 2025, after the Pectra fork in May, which led to a 29% spike in ETH and set new standards for validators.

Fusaka is Ethereum’s next major hard fork after Pectra, targeting Dec. 3, 2025 and bundling a dozen EIPs focused on scalability, safety, and cryptography. PeerDAS (EIP-7594) introduces peer-based data availability sampling so nodes only verify small slices of blob data, cutting bandwidth while unlocking more capacity for rollups. Supporting EIPs tighten MODEXP safety and pricing, cap per-transaction gas usage, bound blob fees to execution costs, enforce an RLP block size limit, add a CLZ opcode, and ship a secp256r1 precompile so modern hardware keys can sign securely. Together, these changes push Ethereum toward a cheaper, more data-rich, rollup-centric future that still remains accessible to home stakers and full nodes.

Fusaka follows this year's Pectra upgrade, representing a major step forward in Ethereum's scaling roadmap that improves L1 performance, increases blob throughput, and enhances user experience. The Fusaka network upgrade is scheduled to activate on the Ethereum mainnet at slot 13,164,544 (December 3, 2025, 21:49:11 UTC). Fusaka also introduces Blob Parameter Only (BPO) forks to safely scale blob throughput after PeerDAS activation.
