In #SouthAfrica it depends on the tribe (11 official languages, one of which is sign language). The Khoisan/San/Nama (original inhabitants of this area, also known as Bushmen and they are the ones with the rock art and petroglyphs) have names which can differ slightly between tribal groups.
          
      So I guess tomarrows the Beaver Moon? When did giving each months Moon a name, usually animal, become a thing? What's the origin of this? Is it the same each year?

    I know you recommended Witty’s Lagoon, but I never made it over there & didn’t know there were petroglyphs there. Or hugging trees. Or the Sitting Lady Waterfall. Dang, now I wish I had gone there 😭

    The ancients observed those huge electric discharges from the ionosphere with their own eyes and preserved them in rock art and petroglyphs to remember over generations. Those were most likely more intense sprites than today's.

    Flaming Gorge is a wonderful drive down into Utah from Wyoming. Totally recommend if you have the time.  Dinosaur National Park is where I got an inspiration for a entire body of art work of Rock Petroglyphs done in mono prints. Sold allot of them through the years.
