What do you think you'd feel if your #PhD was downgraded at the last hurdle to an #MPhil?

Specially after providing a record of how you met your revision criteria and having had your supervisor look at all your revisions.

TIL that the assumption of Homoscedasticity applies to residuals and not data in linear models.

I think we do learners a disservice in #Statistics #Education by simplifying concepts to the point that they're wrong.

Very frustrating.

Didn't get the job. A little disappointed, I'd never felt more suitable for a position before and was over qualified compared to the candidate criteria.

Hoping for some useful feedback to take me forward.

Still don't quite know what that means, and they give no expected hours in the advert.

I'm more than an ideal fit, however. So I'm quite confident I'll get an offer.

Been thinking lately about how I've received more active support and affirmations from a different department in the last 2 years than I ever got in 10 years from the department I did my #PhD in.

No advocacy after I was failed, just sorrys.

It's about a year since I 'graduated' with a degree I didn't study for, after my #PhD was downgraded to an MPhil.

But a friend is graduating today and I'm so very happy for her. She had leaves and extensions, and despite life happening, she's done it!

Whilst those whose lives are dysrupted just have to suck it up and move on?

There's been so many horror stories of #PhD student maltreatment.

Lack of support to finish/pass, abusive relationships leading to restarting with new supervisors, having to remove supervisors for lack of input.

The losing a #PhD trauma is so recurring.

I want to be excited and interested in friends' work, but I just feel a deep anguish whenever they talk about their research or their theses.

All I got from my department was a "I'm sorry about the news", and that as when I just happened to pass one person in the street.

No advocates, nobody to fight to see where things went wrong.

If someone does a #PhD to their best under the guidance given, submits thesis corrections per the examiners outline and with input from their supervisor, and the have their degree downgraded...

What amount of fault is theirs?
