☀️💨 Our 2025 Q2 update of our Deal Tracker shows the impact that continued regulatory uncertainty is having on the #CleanEnergy industry in Alberta. There were no new #PowerPurchaseAgreements signed. It's hard to sign a deal if you don't know what the basic market regulations are!

☀️💨 "Eligible purchase agreements" — basically corporate #PowerPurchaseAgreements — will be enabled under Ontario's Electricity Act starting on July 1, 2025. The move is being lauded for providing "market certainty" and "regulatory clarity."

💨 NEW: NB Power signed four #wind #PowerPurchaseAgreements for 450 MW and issued new Requests for Expressions of Interest for additional #RenewableEnergy to power the New Brunswick grid. Each wind project will be developed by First Nations communities in partnership w/ developers.

When it comes to #PowerPurchaseAgreements, the U.S. left Canada in the dust last year. They set a new record of 28GW in 2024, up 34% from 2022. Their 183 deals in 2024 almost doubled the # of PPAs in 2023. We're missing out on opportunities, Canada!
