"If the Australian government wants to fill this tax blackhole without hurting low-income households, it could broaden the GST so that it applies to private school fees and private health insurance," said @richarddenniss.bsky.social, speaking to 9 News.

Path narrow enough that changes are still possible. #Medicaid #HealthInsurance

Also, my 87yo Mum pays nearly £8k per year (over £660pcm) with a £500 excess, to her #PrivateHealthInsurance Co.
That’s way more than the £293 they’re quoting here!

Very misleading article!
@dailymail.co.uk
This is in the #DailyMail
I must have been being ripped off by my insurance Co.
I was paying £134.76pcm already (with a £100 excess) and as I turn 60 this year, my renewal jumped 24% to £167.10
I’d like to know which co. they’re quoting here for monthly subscriptions!

We all know it won't stop with recipients aged 19-55, they'll expand it so no one gets #Medicaid coverage and we all are at the mercy of #privateHealthInsurance
Under a Republican plan to require Medicaid recipients to work, between 4.6 million and 5.2 million could lose their health care coverage, a new analysis shows, not because they aren’t complying but because they would struggle to report their compliance.

Btw, my family, that's my children are also paying for the private health insurance. The system needs to be fixed. #PrivateHealthInsurance #Medicare This surgery should be covered by Medicare. It is essential surgery, not optional.
My family are coughing up $1,000's in OUT OF POCKET expenses for my upcoming surgery, and today, FIVE days before surgery my private health insurance company are asking for FEEDBACK🙄

Just because I have GOOD health insurance does not detract from how I feel that the very idea of #privatehealthinsurance is an #immoral #scam.

I spent months trying to figure out how to get TMS treatment for my ptsd only to have my insurance tell me that they won’t cover it. they also said that I had the option to pay out of pocket for a weeks worth of TMS treatment, but that it would cost me 9,000 dollars. 🙃

2/ I knew #PrivateHealthInsurance claims your medicare benefits. I used to think I was saving Medicare the expense by using the "insurance".

I didn't know it didn't cover anything that lacked an item number!

That's feckin OUTRAGEOUS. That's not how it was sold to us. #auspol

COME AGAIN?
"there's no way that we can let them use their insurance because there's no Medicare item number for that"

If you needed proof that #PrivateHealthInsurance was a #scam, look no further.
