Penguin Books are always a joy. Here are my 1960 editions of 'Quatermass II' and 'Quatermass And The Pit' teleplays. Both absolute classics, but I don't need to tell anyone that. The cover designs are by Nigel Kneale's brother Bryan. The first had a plain cover.

I’d like to take a moment to appreciate how Quatermass unconvincingly drinking coffee gets a dramatic musical sting…

Hellraiser (2022)
Death Rides a Horse (1967)

"8. Quatermass Collection - Limited Edition Box Set, spanning from 1953 to 1979, also costs £225."

A set I'm sure many Brits will have casually sat on their shelves, tucked between Friends and Breaking Bad.

At least they would if such a box set ACTUALLY EXISTED. Starting to think AI wrote this.

I've had a sufficiently bad day that I'm rewatching Quatermass and the Pit.

Oh dear….

I blame @bunnydarke.bsky.social and @eofftv.bsky.social for the massive dent in my wages this month.

But bloody hell, these sets from @hammerfilms.bsky.social are gorgeous. Can’t wait to see the 4K restorations and blast the volume tonight after work.

Based on recommendations I bought Object Z. I’d never even heard of it until the BFI announced it was coming out.

More Junior A for Andromeda than Quatermass Experiment but very enjoyable and quite mature for a children’s drama

Just look at this beauty.

It had to be alien enough to convince but mundane enough to be mistaken for an unexploded bomb early in the plot.

"THIS IS THE RIM OF HELL...
WHERE NO ONE LIVING CAN STAY ALIVE..."

Theatrical trailer for Hammer's "X The Unknown" (released 05/11/56).

Originally intended to be a third "Quatermass" movie... a giant natural horror emerges from the depths to unleash radioactive death... #horrorfam #horror

My copy of The Quatermass Experiment arrived yesterday, and so far it's a great and fascinating read. So much that I never knew about Kneale, the series, etc. Definitely worth getting hold of.
Some spooky reprints have appropriately arrived on Halloween. 🎃 The Quatermass Experiment: The Making of TV's First Sci-Fi Classic and Penda's Fen: Scene by Scene are back in stock and could be haunting your bookshelves. Order now from tenacrebooks.co.uk/

Watching QUATERMASS, I've only just realised that Kneale would have known #SimonMacorkindale from the BABY episode of BEASTS, and @andrewscreenbskys.bsky.social 's book shows that Macorkindale's character was written as a twat, so did Kneale intend Kapp to be a hysterical twat too?
