And now college students are using AI to do all their work. They learn nothing of the subject matter, except how to write AI queries. In four or five years the work force is going to be full of college graduates that have the equivalent of an eighth grade education... arstechnica.com/culture/2025...
Caught cheating in class, college students “apologized” using AI—and profs called them out
Time for some “life lessons.”…

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

If you are choosing to use the program, it still WILL train on you for AI unless you opt out.

Go here: www.canva.com/account/priv...

There you can opt out, otherwise what you are doing is heavily pointless.

What'd I miss?

components know:
- user stuff
- device stuff
- app stuff
- design stuff
- what stuff is in them
- what stuff they're inside
- etc

It's amazing how much a component can know on the web, and I'm going to try and list it all out. Help me 🤓

I'm really bummed out about this. Publishing to github pages with parquet and @observablehq framework was so nice and easy and it all really relied on range queries being functional

Low level and mid level positions are where you build up into senior level talent. Allow space for someone to learn, while paying them!

Sure, it'll take me time to spin up SQL queries, but guess what? I'm already finding ways to use it the engineers forgot about! Because I have those fresh eyes.

I wonder if this is why tech bros have an unrealistic view of AI's benefit, because it is quite useful in tech related tasks (eg. for me regex/spunk queries/sql/basic code) and they're extrapolating this level of utility to other domains?

The diff for me is that testing is part of tech workflow..

but truly, just having optimized queries would change how I structure everything, so I may end up in a similar boat lol. My latest attempt at an event stack did as much as it could to avoid unnecessary listeners to events, but theres a limit to how much it can react naturally

Nope, this is just the result of current AI bots "behind-the-scenes" doing multiple queries and the way the input data is amalgamated the input data into their actual prompts. No awareness is taking place.

We used to say 'Google is your friend' when asked something that could be answered through a search engine

That only worked for simple queries

Now we can access tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity to get responses to complex scenarios

The trick is to learn how to ask the right questions

AWS Clean Rooms launches advanced configurations to optimize SQL performance
Today, AWS Clean Rooms announces support for advanced configurations to improve the performance of Spark SQL queries. This launch enables you to customize Spark properties and compute sizes for SQL queries at runtime, offering increased flexibility to meet your performance, scale, and cost requirements. With AWS Clean Rooms, you can configure Spark properties—such as shuffle partition settings for parallel processing and autoBroadcastJoinThreshold for optimizing join operations—to help you better control the behavior and tuning of SQL queries in a Clean Rooms collaboration. Additionally, you can choose to cache an existing table’s data containing results from a SQL query or create and cache a new table, which help improve the performance and reduce costs for complex queries using large datasets. For example, an advertiser running lift analysis on their advertising campaigns can specify a custom number of workers for an instance type and configure Spark properties—without editing their SQL query—to optimize costs. With AWS Clean Rooms, customers can create a secure data clean room in minutes and collaborate with any company on AWS or Snowflake to generate unique insights about advertising campaigns, investment decisions, and research and development. For more information about the AWS Regions where AWS Clean Rooms is available, see the https://docs.aws.amazon.com/general/latest/gr/clean-rooms.html#clean-rooms_region table.
