Newsom: "It's not about rule of law anymore. It's rule of Don. He's choosing which court decisions he agrees with. He's quite literally running an extortion racket. He's doing it with some of the most powerful corporate leaders. What does everything have in common? Tariffs. They're about leverage"

in reality, everyone *wants* regulation. republicans just prefer that it resembles a protection racket.
Trump says he’s told DOJ to investigate the meatpacking companies, which he blames for high prices.

Trump runs America like a mob boss, dangling federal funds to extort votes, pardoning cronies while persecuting foes, turning democracy into a protection racket. #TrumpCrimeFamily

Went back to the history of the Sicilian Mafia to illustrate something obvious but worth stating explicitly: The Trump administration behaves like an organized crime syndicate running a protection racket, not a representative government www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

This reminds me: A few CBP agents were recently overheard complaining about how much they *hate* the whistles. Apparently, in addition to the obvious, the racket makes it harder for them to communicate with each other.
Listening to CPD radio traffic from something last month and can hear the whistles in the background.

People are 100% going to spend that money on more immediate needs like food, rent, and utilities. Pre-ACA world shows the poorest Americans can and will cheap out on their own health insurance if given the option. We will shorten our own lives to avoid being taken in by such an obvious racket

The point taken, but this is far less like socialism and more akin to a mob extortion racket.

Trump is saying, essentially, If you don’t want to get hurt, you’ll do what I say.

Trump sues the BBC. It's an extortion racket. Anyone sued by a vindictive president, with the whole DOJ doing his bidding, faces a rigged game. Nobody has "weaponized" our courts more than Trump has, with his thousands of lawsuits over his nasty lifetime.

Parakeets and jackdaws were making a real racket in my garden. Turns out a sparrowhawk had caught a pigeon.

The corrupt Trump regime has made quid pro quo the status quo in America where bribes determine which cases get prosecuted. The DOJ no longer represents the American public. It is now just a protection racket for the wealthy.

I’ve just had to put Wagner on for the cats. To block out the racket and perhaps give them a love for opera.

Bannon still faces charges in connection with a grifting racket he ran several years back. He doesn't appear to have a viable defense.

Government runs a billionaire protection racket. Any time they lose they get bailed out and losses dumped on the masses. This corrupt system must be destroyed. Wealth inequality went too far.
Nobody relies more on a government cycle of dependency than billionaires. These parasites wouldn’t even exist without the nanny state providing a handout every time their companies have a down quarter.
