Lemmie reframe this.

So to reframe what we're all witnessing in real-time... the tech industry has already committed murder, and it is currently scrambling to figure out how to make that everyone else's problem, and to cover it up, before we notice what actually happened.

Brilliant interrogation of power, vision, and shame - and how Mamdani used it to reframe and reset what society and government can look like.

We use the Overton Window to describe this shift politically but it is much more deeply rooted in identity and cultural norms.
Today I wrote about Zohran Mamdani's historic win, the energizing power of holding to shared principles of decency, and a taxonomy of the endlessly intertwined relationship between shame and vision. www.the-reframe.com/the-extraord...
The Extraordinary Power of Standing For Something
Winning by creating vision in the positive space of shared standards, and expertly negotiating the negative space of shame.

Why people feel the need for reform. Conceptualise human suffering in ways that protect the current economy from criticism. That is, reframe suffering as being rooted in individual rather than social causes, leading individuals to think that it is them rather than the economic

How Nancy Pelosi shook the housewife narrative and seized power in a brutal 1987 campaign
San Francisco Chronicle archive gift article

Her first election mostly lost in time was one of her greatest feats managing to reframe herself from docile party planner to take-no-crap firebrand

How Nancy Pelosi shook the housewife narrative and seized power in a brutal 1987 campaign
Nancy Pelosi was known as a Democratic party fundraiser and housewife in 1987, before her ascent to power in a short and vicious knife fight of a campaign.

@gavinnewsom at COP30: “It’s about economic power. I think we have to reframe [climate change] as a cost of living issue”…when asked how to engage voters…pointing to fact US utility costs have risen 11% while Trump has pushed fossil fuels & curbed solar & wind power.

Gavin Newsom: Democrats need to recast climate change as ‘affordability’ issue
Pollution mitigation is about “economic power,” Gov. Gavin Newsom said Tuesday during a UN climate summit.

I will point out that it's pretty freaking cool to see you writing a piece like this because it hasn't happened... hm... perhaps ever, since you started The Reframe. A genuinely positive and hopeful milieu that begs for the Moxon treatment. It was a joy to read.

I think we need to reframe things and refer to any software that intentionally negatively affects user experience to further some ulterior motive as "malicious software"

Just remembering the time I gave someone a gag kink just by having him reframe the experience hypnotically.

Fun is fun.

For the @theglobeandmail.com, I wrote about the persistent myths and misconceptions surrounding spousal rape, and a novel legal theory that might reframe the way lawyers and judges (and society) counters them.
Opinion: Spousal rape remains all too misunderstood
More than 40 years after Canada made sexually assaulting one’s spouse a crime, myths remain pervasive within the legal system

I hope I am wrong. Very crafty people are doing beautiful work trying to reframe genre fantasy way from its bad cultural politics.

as soon as you reframe the question to be about whether it would simply make you *happier* to transition, a whole lotta eggs start cracking.

For me Jazz was also helpful because he reminded me there are centrists who want to do work and make change. Like Im so used to Frey, Schaffer, Millard who are straight up lying, it was an important reframe to have someone I didn’t fully agree with but could vote for without feeling gross

Right. And many white folks have spent years trying to reframe the problem of racism to one that favors and absolves them.

Exhibit A: Class Warfare.

Imo, they do that because they can't/don't want to address their own racist tendencies.

Sarah Kirkland Snider’s new opera re the medieval composer & abbess, Hildegard, focuses on her subject’s experience of chronic illness.
I’m intrigued by Snider’s evocation of ‘Hildegard’s revolutionary reframe of illness as a generative spiritual force’

“I thought that was such a beautiful way to think about health, and one of Hildegard’s more philosophical teachings is that creativity is a way to connect with divinity”

We spoke with Sarah Kirkland Snider about her new opera, HILDEGARD. Have you read the interview? Check it out at:

this is a perfect encapsulation, actually

if you want to work on yourself, money can often eliminate barriers that keep you from being able to do it

TOO much money allows you to reframe the world around you so you never have to work on yourself

Dems dropping climate talk after voters ranked it low vs. affordability concerns.

Smart reframe: Rep Casten's 'Cheap Energy Agenda' ties clean power to lower bills.

Climate action happens when framed as benefit, not abstract crisis.
Why Democrats aren't talking about climate change much anymore
As Democrats reflect on the 2024 election, talking about the "planetary emergency" is out, and "cheap energy" is in.

Aging and growing older is a natural privilege that you should make the most of. Instead of dreading it, reframe it into something beautiful. For example, I look forward to being a chill stoner faery witch grandma ദ്ദി ˉ͈̀꒳ˉ͈́ )✧

Humanity is losing touch with reality because nobody trusts *ANYTHING* or *ANYONE* that tells them their personal feelings are incorrect.

They don't reframe their thinking or adjust their perception when presented with information that contradicts their feelings. They just dismiss it as untrue.
It's funny watching the vibecession come for Trump after destroying Biden, but also a little depressing, because it means everyone will just keep lying about everything.

Trump is lying that prices are down (they're up!) and liberals will lie and exaggerate how bad it is (not that bad, so far).

We need to reframe how we view masking in MSN #autistics with trauma. Late Dx, high-masking folx are not really choosing to mask. In fact, our system had to choose to unmask.

It is an automatic, involuntary trauma response. Being #high-masking is deeply triggering bcuz it is a denial of core self.
