Everything about this project aside, I feel like there was a better, more preservative, more circumspect way to make any renovation to the Whitehouse than using heavy machinery to just rip it down.

Of all the buildings and streets in the country that could use renovation, who would have predicted that installing a gargantuan ballroom is the priority? Really, how many people go to the White House expecting to dance? Trump is a cartoon villain with a gaping hole where his character should be.

Last time WH was demolished was in 1814 by British troops. Harry Truman had a major renovation from ‘48-52 but it was an interior renovation

Specialty lawyer notes who’s got the standing to sue over the White House shit. So: anyone within sight or sound of the White House renovation?
Typically it's impacted neighbors or neighborhood associations. The WH isn't in a typical residential neighborhood. But, hey, one of the joys of practicing land use law in DC is that almost every neighbor is a lawyer. I'm sure someone could figure something out.

Hitler had a large ball room/ reception hall built at the Old Reich Chancellery in Berlin This was part of a major renovation of the building after he became Chancellor. It was designed by Albert Speer and completed in 1939
