3/ Gay was pushed out for other reasons. But she was no friend to Black students, Palestinian students or the cause of free speech. She was an overseer, through and through—so, trying to stop this retcon before it takes off. Gay acted with ZERO concern for Black students, faculty or liberation.

I just watched the start of Metroid Dread this morning, and they did something I respect: leaned into it. They acknowledge what bounty hunting actually is (her ship's AI suggests the bounty she is accepting is not worth the risk) instead of trying to retcon her into being a superhero

On the topic of pedophiles, what should DC do with Deathstroke? Do you retcon his history so that he can be used as an antihero in the future? Keep it and have one of the nastiest and scariest villains in comics? Introduce a new character with the same name?

i think they wanted to somewhat retcon the degree of the tempering so that they could portray her in EW as a morally grey yet still generally loving & kind goddess. but i'm ngl, i prefer the idea that The Will Of The Star pushed venat, as hydaelyn, to do things she'd never have done herself

Doesn’t matter if other dialogue hints that I did it if you make neither choice canon by having someone hint that I didn’t, still a retcon and something the writers hinted that they wanted to avoid. 💀

What annoyed me is the Palpatine retcon.
An entire galaxy in three different generations to build on, and instead all nine movies are about Sheev screwing himself over in a Rube Goldberg scheme with a hideous amount of collateral damage.
