I’m clearly quite good at this programming lark. I’ve just written a SQLCLR table-valued function that will read an Excel sheet from a file path and return the contents of a specified range as JSON data. It compiled, deployed, and worked perfectly first time.

XML, DDL triggers, SQLCLR...2005 was a ridiculously large improvement over 2000.
