🔮What will happen to schools in 2025?🔮

Edapt CEO, Alistair Wood has had a go at making some predictions for the year ahead. Do you agree?

✋ 1. No changes to the DfE ministerial team
💷 2. STRB to recommend >2.8% on teacher pay in England

Yet another year & yet another leak from the #STRB over #teachers’ pay. Following the @neunion.bsky.social preliminary ballot on industrial action, @danielkebedeneu.bsky.social in his @seced.bsky.social column says that #teachers stand ready to strike if they have to: buff.ly/cBTo6Ux #teaching

Writing this simple code #arm64 assembly code took me way too long because I was using "str" instead of "strb"

I have to remember, this is a 64bits processor: writing a register to the memory by default writes 8 bytes by default.

The School Teachers’ Review Body (STRB) sends its pay recommendations to the Department for Education.

The DfE then decides when to publish the report and respond with what it plans to do e.g. whether it accepts the proposed % pay rise and how that may or may not be funded.

On pay, the DfE says that “most academies already follow the existing framework and want this change”.

The STRB will be asked to consider extra flexibilities within the statutory framework to make it most effective for all schools - “no earlier than September 2026”.

Why haven't the DfE published the STRB teacher pay recommendations yet?

Despite the DfE having the report, they won't publish it or their response until after the local elections (1st May) due to us now being in a period of 'purdah'

What's purdah? Let us explain...
