By the way, the Russians were involved in helping to remove Shevardnadze & Aslan Abashidze allowing Saakashvili & his UNM to secure power. Much has been overlooked, forgotten and abandoned in the post Soviet space for over 30 years.

They make a lot of foreign friends which these friends give them legitimacy. They use their friends’ credibility and integrity for their own uses. Saakashvili has defended & praised Trump for 14 years. Down the line many people are not going to like Georgians but especially UNM affiliated Georgians.
January 4, 2026 at 6:27 AM
However Georgians affiliated with Saakashvili & UNM are highly integrated with us in various forums. Media, academia, think tanks, politically, diplomatically, etc. If you are aware of the lack of transparency with the Georgian Legion, it’s small scale representation of what all the UNM does.

I have her blocked. Marika is simply a reflection of Saakashvili. Her party’s leader was part of Saakashvili’s government. What Saakashvili & his UNM did in Georgia is beyond redemption. Many of the opposition parties originate from UNM & they have no chance of garnering the majority ever again.
January 4, 2026 at 6:27 AM
No, they are not. The Georgians affiliated with Saakashvili & the United National Movement have deceived so many. Abkhazia was abandoned to a Russian blockade and South Ossetia was stuck in a political limbo since the 90s. So many are not going like the Georgians especially the UNM affiliated ones.

Thousands of people celebrate New Year at Independence Square in Kyiv #OTD 01 January 2005.

Yushchenko rang in the New Year with Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili, who led a "rose" uprising in Tbilisi last year, in an appearance sure to irritate Russia.

This faction of Georgians preplanned these flashy attention grabbing rallies to occur before the 2024 parliamentary election as they had no chance to garner the majority of Georgia to back them. The Georgians suffered under Saakashvili & the United National Movement.

They do rallies at night. I don’t care if they chuckle at our protests when the faction, they are part of, has deceived our State Department to have no idea what Ivanishvili said. They don’t have popular support anyway because they are beyond redemption due to what they did under Saakashvili.

"Georgia’s State Security Service has detained former defence minister Bacho Akhalaia, who served under President Mikheil Saakashvili, in connection with the events of 4 October."

Meanwhile Ivanishvili and GD become magnet for anything pro-Kremlin, pro-USSR, pro-corruption forces and anyone else who hate Saakashvili and UNM.
This situation were abused by Kremlin to the max, with a disinfo campaign.
it ending up with Camite used against protesters, and other horrors.

@powervertical.bsky.social hello brian, i vaguely remember a podcast you did years ago, with somebody telling a story about saakashvili destroying his hotel room in bucharest after the NATO summit. do you happen to remember the story or the podcast episode? thank you so much for your work!

You are going wish it was funny but it won’t be. That faction you’re supporting the Russians helped Saakashvili & his cohorts in removal of Shevardnadze because Shevardnadze was protecting the Chechen refugees in Pankisi Gorge so Putin wanted him removed. Saakashvili did everything Putin wanted.
December 23, 2025 at 3:38 AM
Sad? No, I’m pissed off. You should be pissed as well because they conned you out of your money that should have gone to Ukraine instead of aiding a faction where Saakashvili has praised & defended Trump for over 13 years.

So many down the road are going to really not like the Georgians but especially the chauvinists and the Georgians affiliated with Saakashvili and the United National Movement for lying to people’s faces & wasting everyone’s time that should have gone to more addressing matters.

This morning Georgian opposition leader Zura Japaridze of Girchi-More Freedom was released.

Last summer he was sentenced for eight months after he refused to appear in front of the Tsulukiani Commission that investigated the alleged crimes of the Saakashvili government of 2003-2013.

No, it was Chechnya first. Abkhazia & South Ossetia are straight up no. People & the world abandoned Abkhazia & South Ossetia over 30 years ago. Georgian chauvinism has been constantly overlooked. While Saakashvili overall is suspicious as his actions discreetly benefit the Russia since Putin helped

I was born the same year as Macron (slightly earlier). And he was born exactly two years after Charles Michel (and ten years after Saakashvili).

Saakashvili has made some very astute observations before:

Y'all know this was an almost exact *actual* thing/setting between former Bundeskanzler Schroeder & Putin?
Gerhard (aka Gas-Herd) was in the basement, serving drinks to guests, on an event/birthday party organised by Putin.

Anecdote from a book by (quote of?) Saakashvili, former Georgian president.
"Merry Christmas, President Musk!" 😜
