I find it unsettling that LimeWire has pivoted to in-browser file sharing backed by a collection of tech buzzwords, and last month took over multiple open-source self-hosted file sharing tools (SnapDrop and ShareDrop). Acquisitions probably happened late last year, based on commit logs.

we use pairdrop.net in this household (I use self-hosted drop.xan.lol but anyways) github.com/schlagmichdoch/pairdrop (also lovely replies to messages attached to donations! buymeacoffee.com/pairdrop)

Bro I'm so upset to find out that sharedrop and snapdrop have AI bs attached to it now.

Luckily there's other data transfer options like LocalSend for local networks, and (Tim Visee/firefox/thunderbird) Send, Wormhole App and Internxt Send, but it's such a shame to see those two got down that path!
