I really enjoyed the film adaptation from 2014 (very Chabrol) and am looking forward to seeing how faithful it is to the book

isso porque estamos lendo "maigret et le corps sans tête" e, logo no começo, o detetive tem um pensamento revelador sobre a condição feminina: se a vítima do assassinato brutal fosse mulher, tudo seria apenas rotina. mas, como era um homem, havia mistério e interesse - tudo era possível.

I think I like the cover type at the bottom best, though I prefer the new ones to the photo ones. They are bright for Simenon though.

Ohhhh Randalllll. Have I got something for you. Check out the streaming service MhZ Choice. It is amazing. Series from all over non-English speaking Europe, mainly mysteries. All of Montalbano (like 30 of them). Henning Mankell, Beck, the original french Simenon. Really great stuff.

I love that Simenon set quite a few novels in the USA (living there for like a decade couldn’t have hurt), and in this one it’s convenient for the plot because the idea of someone getting lost in a snow blizzard feels more plausible in Middle America than in, say, the Loire Valley…
