It's been a bit since I've been able to photograph the sun and it is looking spotty today! If you've still got eclipse glasses, you can definitely spot the two biggest without magnification.

This morning our seeing conditions were excellent and we got our first solar disc with prominences! I'm sure the images will get better as we go on, but this was so much fun to get today!

The Sun Endures. The partly-cloudy sky today offered plenty of openings to deep blue sky, 26℉, and light winds produced good seeing for an interesting cluster of active regions!

Sun is spotty again! The fast-growing sunspot at AR3961 is now one of the largest sunspots of Solar Cycle 25. It is Earth-facing and has potential for strong X-Class flares.

The AR3947, while the most prominent feature in the photosphere right now, is losing its potential for powerful flares. The sunspot had a very active history, even producing CMEs and auroras recently.

Sunny, mostly-clear blue skies this morning hid the turbulent nature of the atmosphere. We watched the solar limb shimmering as we made our image captures but managed to catch a moment or two of fair steadiness.

Sunny skies and mild temperatures today presented us with excellent seeing for our Sun shot. Unfortunately, the rest of the week looks cloudy and damp!

Day 4 of sunspot imaging! The smaller ones seem to have faded (or maybe it was shooting through high clouds?), but the big cluster is awfully pretty.

Honestly, it’s barely worth setting up a full session for something this subtle… but hey, the filter is new, and you want to see how everything works.

And let’s be honest—any excuse for a coffee break is a good one. 😄☕ #SolarImaging #smarttelescope #Vespera2

Had some nice activity on Sunday.
Really loved working with the Player One Mars 662M

Winter in Northeast Ohio: Many days of clouds, rain, snow, punctuated by a day of sunshine. Apparently we did not miss solar activity much due to cloud cover -- the photosphere reportedly had few sunspots.

Spaceweather news today is primarily from the far side of our star. Over the past days Sun blasted off three halo CMEs from a source we cannot yet see. Next week should bring the culprit forward.

Taking our Sun shot today during a break in the clouds at midday, we enjoyed a temperature of 52°F, powder-blue skies, brisk winds. Seeing was surprisingly good.

Today's Sun shot displays only four designated active regions and, of those, only AR3917 is being watched for its X-Class flare potential. Otherwise, quiet!

Monday dawned clear and bright so we set up the hydrogen-alpha solar telescope and recorded some image sequences. Today was dull and cloudy perfect for learning new processing techniques. We've a long way to go but we think this picture shows great progress!
