I had to cheese that thing with the helper folk so hard, it was still brutal from start to finish. And then watching the speedrunners do it in like 30 seconds flat. 🙃

I've heard speedrunners rag on Super Monkey Ball Adventure, but I had a modicum of hope that it wasn't so bad. Like maybe this was a case of it being merely okay, just not a "Super Monkey Ball" game.

Speedrunners are some of the coolest, most supportive, inclusive people around. It's an amazing community and one which is hungry for more mainstream attention and support, and it sucks that predatory companies are trying to use them like that

I haven't paid enough attention to know for certain but I'd like to think that generally the speedrunners themselves understand that devs making any accommodations for them is appreciated but not expected.

to expand on this way back the FFX speedrun community at its peak wanted to do a redub patch, basically just rerecord everyone as different speedrunners
Turns out you cant change the length of the sound files without GREAT effort otherwise the game soft locks because of how the cutscenes are rigged
