Good to see management work at Stodmarsh NNR (Kent). A new wide ditch running from the Lampen Wall to & beside the Reedbed Hide. Reeds cut back around the pool in front of the Reedbed Hide - looks very bare at the moment but should be great by the spring. 1/2🪶

September and October from the Feast hide at Stodmarsh nature reserve. It's worth keeping an eye on the Kent Birding group in FB to see how well they are showing 😉

A lovely Autumn day out at Grove Ferry & Stodmarsh NNR yesterday. Kingfishers, Marsh Harriers and Starlings were the highlight. An Airbus A400M Atlas did a flypast! Then what started off small became a huge gathering of Starlings behind the Cormorant roosting trees as the sun went down.

I always enjoyed the previous generation of birder’s tales of yore. That’s why I share (and to wind up the yoof, obvs.😚)

I remember a long gone birder telling of his discovery of a Pallas’s’ Sandgrouse at Stodmarsh in 1964.

I’m sure there’s still a few 1962 Macqueens Bustard veterans around.

We were back in Kent for the weekend, and it was good to walk round Elmley and Stodmarsh again. Elmley is very dry at the moment but Stodmarsh seems have 'weathered' the dry weather well. Beardie from Stodmarsh this morning. #StodmarshNR

Can you believe that not that many years ago, we were lucky to get one ! And if you lived a long way from Stodmarsh, which was the only place there ever was one, you were stuffed !
