Finally saw GDT's Pinocchio and primary takeaway is that I'm happy Mark Gustafson got to bookend his life's work in stop-motion by animating the Sphinx.

Part of the reason I love puppet, stop motion, and practical monsters is because they don’t move smoothly. They jerk and twitch and halt, adding to the effect of “What the hell is it doing?”

Computer generated images cannot compete with practical effects. AI cannot defeat stop motion. It cannot possibly have the heart. Animation needs to have human hands on it or it doesn’t work.

I know it’s sort of a technicality & it COULD absolutely lead directly and swiftly to the thing everyone’s worried about, but last night’s vote did not reopen the gov’t. It was an agreement to (soon) stop debating the motion to START debating a bill to reopen, which will have to be amended first.
