A painting in progress. This shows you how I often photograph a painting midway and draw on the photograph. That way I can experiment all I want and decide the next steps, with no harm done to the painting itself.

I’m exploring some new alcohol ink colors. I love how the colors collide. At times unexpected patterns emerge: Guided accidents which fit the planned design.

Emotional Angularism study for canvas translation—where Savvye's Color Zone System will transform angular constraint into emotional temperature. From charcoal to oils, the passage remains narrow, but the feelings expand.

🖌️✨ VR to canvas

Tried using my VR headset to transfer sketches for a painting. I have enough of my sketch there to refine it and start painting! Its pretty neat that this works!

Loose watercolor sketching. Always ready to mess around and try something new. This idea might be something I put in my toolkit.

Noticed that my studio cleaning rag looks like abstract flowers. Kind of fun.

Various sketches and under paintings for a new painting; digital, watercolor, and acrylic. Testing variations on color, abstraction, use of line...it's my mind on loudspeaker, or in paint I should say.

With watercolors, the type of paper you use makes a tremendous difference. I want something that will allow me to improvise and change an image as it evolves. That’s important for plein air sketching.

This is a painting I’ve submitted to the Lawndale Big Show in Houston.

I previously posted two in-progress videos for this one, showing some pouring and layering techniques. (March 5th & March 12 in case you’re interested)

For those of you who liked the last painting I posted, here’s how it started. And another glimpse in to the process - You can see from the digital sketch that at one point I was considering the addition of a telephone pole, and I changed some of the color quite dramatically.

Started a new painting! Sometimes I start with a very lose underpainting, pouring paint. This entails a lot of chance / controlled chaos. I never know how much will survive through to the final work.

Playing around with cuerda seca on a Luna moth design. It’s time consuming, but I do love process! LOL

Final touches on this fairly big (2.5m) Hong Kong landscape before it heads to Norway! A special commission capturing the energy of the city in layers of color, light, and movement. Who said big don’t matter. 💓 ✨🎨

this piece is entitled “ The famous blue elephant” but the animal was too present sitting there in the corner of the composition. The new darker version works much better… do you know the situation, some area is too strong and singled out?#wip #studioprocess #mixedmediacollage #sabinescollagememoir

Making forms I’ve not gotten to for so many reasons in years. Having calm and peace has been wonderful and now I’ve escaped the perpetual mug loop I can finally bring back and add forms even. Just smiling #claylove #ceramics #pottery #potterystudio #studioprocess #potterylove
