80 Superpatriot was the best drawn Image comic in the early 90s. Larsen paid well I think and got the best. The Bierbaums writing, Giffen plotting and Dave Johnson on the art. The first mini is great. The second brilliant. Small flashback scenes inked by Gibbons, Nowlan, Story. Great fun comics.

Sadly, I would say that of the two SECDEF is by far the more honest. The Speaker has twisted what he calls faith into something that a milksop "superpatriot" who lacks courage would hide behind. Having said that I have known buck privates with a magnitude of honor that would crush both of them.

Keith Giffen just passed away. He worked with me on SuperPatriot and Freak Force as a plotter. Super creative guy. An absolute dynamo. Great collaborator. Genuinely nice guy. He was 70 years old. Crazy.

Trencher was one of the most original and inspiring comic books ideas to my junior-high geek self back in '93, and it led me to dig up some of his 80s DC work. Just did a reread of SuperPatriot recently. So good. Another Legend.

Superpatriot 3. This book was rad! Tons of action, super brutal, solid story. Larsen on story with Giffen, Dave Johnson on pencils and inks, Eliopoulos on letters and great colors by Kindzierski.
