As I read this again, my neighbor bangs on my walls - more daily abuse that will not be addressed. And yet you all are trafficking me and deny that to be slavery? The TVPA which should prevent you from doing EXACTLY what is being done to me is meant to be modern anti slavery legislation

The American State Department released on Monday (29) its report on trafficking in people from 2025, which ranked countries worldwide as attended to the precepts of the United States Victims Protection Law (TVPA). Brazil appeared in the penultimate of four categories, a kind of “relegation zone” of the report. The State Department stressed that the classification of countries "is not based on the dimension of a country's problem, but on the extent of government efforts to meet the minimum TVPA standards for the elimination of trafficking in people."

The Trafficking Victims Protection Act (TVPA) was signed into law by Bill Clinton in 2000. Obama’s administration published the Federal Strategic Action Plan on Services for Victims of Human Trafficking in 2013. Even George W Bush had the Trafficking Victims Protection Act of 2000.

I’m not an immigration expert, but 6 USC § 279 was part of the act creating DHS in 2002, and is a housekeeping section transferring functions previously handled another agency to the ORR (which is part of HHS). It doesn’t create new pathways for removal nor alter the requirements of the TVPA/TVPRA.

U-Visa requires cooperating with the US to secure prosecutions against a violent offender. There is a huge backlog, thus the wait.
They confer protection from deportation. Trump reauthorised TVPA which created the U-Visa.

Solis & Bass worked on DMST/CSEC for years, while neglecting minors and young adults in juvenile detention.
And, while Solis was Labor Secretary - she referred to the TVPA as a "sex trafficking" law.

I will continue to insist a JD is not about knowing the law, it’s a skill for figuring out law stuff quickly. If you’re literate and have critical thinking skills, you could be just as much of an expert on, say, international application of the TVPA as I could be.

NZ has no similar legal framework to the TVPA, Gaiman is a US resident, and Pavlovich has much easier access to US Central Time than NZ. Gaiman is neither a citizen no resident of NZ. Forum non conveniens doesn't apply.
