I might need to add some more storage to my Upcloud server.

It's running as a Tailscale exit node, Bluesky PDS, Beszel (system usage monitor) and is running Uptime Kuma.

The Steam Deck showed me I can just leave and now I've taken things way too far and have a $30 mini PC plugged into a hard drive enclosure acting as home server running podman containers as systemd services that I can access from anywhere with Tailscale

I tried to print my homework from school to my printer at home using Tailscale (subnet router) by its direct IP and a generic driver… it didn’t say it *failed* but we’ll see if it works.. 👀

i forget, have you been onboarded to the polycule HaLow tailscale intranet yet? we've got full coverage of here but we bridge to our satellite polycules in New York City and Seattle

Letta is really the ideal solution for this but then the problem is

-api costs
-getting the ui accessible from mobile/anywhere when locally hosted - which is standard cloudflare/tailscale tunneling stuff but then it's not set up for mobile design at all

dream device: portable raspberry pi or something that has a SIM card, runs Tailscale as a subnet router and lets you join it like a portable router

Be VERY careful when upgrading from OPNsense 25.1 to 25.7. It nuked AdGuard Home (installed from a community repo) which required full reconfiguration, and it blew up Tailscale which required a new auth key to connect.

Linux VM can how be booted in a browser! In a new project at WebVM.com combined with Tailscale, you can query the web without surveillance from your corporate OS or the LLM that are trained on your personal queries. Check out (and maybe contribute to) this new project.

I’m excited to see the return of Steam Machine.

With my experiments of using the Linux Desktop mode with the Steamdeck … this absolutely puts a full Linux server in a lot of homes.

A good spot for a PDS, Tailscale, and a bunch of other things.
If you want some video of the new Steam Controller and Steam Machine (a Valve-made PC for the living room!), check out this that @seanhollister.bsky.social and I made together!

We’re starting #KubeCon week with news: Kubernetes cofounder Joe Beda is joining Tailscale as an advisor. Joe will be on-site with us in Atlanta — stop by the Tailscale booth to meet him and learn more.

Nice write up of using a Mac to self host stuff. I think having to use Linux is a barrier for most people who would like to self host, but most self hosting things only run on Linux (or docker).

I’ll plug my own project dropserver.org which now has Mac native binaries, and Tailscale integration.🎉
