I certainly would rather not have one and hope that you never have to have one, either, but I’m glad these procedures are available, safe and legal, if you, or I, or someone we love or someone we don’t know needs one. And I would never sit in the position of preventing someone from having any of those procedures … including an abortion. Not everyone is lucky enough to have easy access to birth control or comprehensive sex education or to become pregnant when they want to or how they want to or with someone they love. Not everyone has a support system or is healthy enough or mature enough to endure a pregnancy. Not everyone has a healthy baby growing inside them. Remember, being pro-choice only means you realize that it’s not your decision what someone else does with their body.” — Judy Takács is a contemporary figurative painter, known for her realistic paintings from her ongoing, traveling portrait series, Chicks with Balls: Judy Takács paints unsung female heroes. “Takács is a figurative artist who tells stories about people who have something uplifting to share.” She is an elected member of, and sits on the board of the Allied Artists of America in the position of Social Media Chair. In 2018, Takács was elected to membership in the Salmagundi Art Club and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club in New York City. She writes for the blog of the Portrait Society of America. She lives and works in Solon, Ohio. Takács received her BFA in Illustration and Portrait Painting from the Cleveland Institute of Art in 1986. Takács has staged serial projects painting senior citizens and elderly nuns from life. These projects have yielded over fifty paintings, three solo shows, a feature in Anthropology & Aging Quarterly and placements in juried and invitational shows. In 2014 she published a book of these collected portraits of the elderly called, The Age of Adventure.
