Additional Protocol I to the Geneva Conventions has a whole special scheme for protection of medical transports - involves an agreement b/t belligerents, filing of flight plans, etc.

US didn't ratify AP I, doesn't view all of it as customary law that binds non-signatories (🇨🇳 adopted it, btw)

'70s TV movie about an incoming priest brings changes and the Abbot who is unhappy about it. Questions of faith and duty bring into question the whole structure. Interesting ideas- could have been a good play. Well written and thought provolking.
