Want to stop getting lost on the trail? Use *handrails* and *backstops*.
Handrails (like creeks or ridges) guide you; backstops (like roads or cliffs) stop you.
Plan with both before your hike to stay found, not lost. 🧭🏞️

🚨 The USDA just declared a logging “emergency” across 113 million acres of national forests.
That’s 60% of public lands—fast-tracked for timber harvest, with no public input.
We break down what it means & how to take action:

🌩️ Knowing when to turn around is an essential skill!
Colorado weather can change FAST. If dark clouds roll in before noon, it’s time to head down.
Summits = optional.
Have you ever had to turn around before the summit due to a storm? Tell us what happened!

⚠️ MYTH: You don’t need a map if you’re using AllTrails.
✅ TRUTH: Apps are helpful—but batteries die and GPS can fail.
Always carry a paper map + compass and know how to use them.
Let’s be safer out there.

Lost the trail? Nature’s got you. 🏔️
Use "natural handrails—like rivers, ridges, roads, or valleys—to stay oriented when tech fails. Simple, smart, and possibly life-saving. 🧭

When landing in Denver, you can see a long caravan of cars coming back from the mountains along US-285 as clear as day!
I love flying when I get to snag a window seat. Otherwise, it's not nearly as fun...
