Nakalele Blowhole, but a few seconds after an eruption. All that remains is the spray on the wind that the sun lights up with a 3 second rainbow. The water comes shooting from the hole about 20 feet to the right of the rainbow.

A stalked jellyfish attached to the rock on the upper left side of a tide pool. It kind of looks like a brownish red lily flower with darker stripes on the sides and then pom-pom tentacle collections on the edges of the “petals”. Golden sand lines the bottom of the tide pool, and bits of seaweed are scattered here and there.

Fun first day out on Maui! Went to a beach, up to some waterfalls, and stopped at some tidepools

Selfie at some beautiful tidepools. The water was so crystal clear!

Selfie below & in front of a small waterfall. OMFG the water was cold, except if you swam to right where the waterfall was splashing down that was warm.

While exploring a potential field site in Washington last week, I kept finding tidepools full of aggregating anemones that had lost their algal endosymbionts. I suspect that repeated exposure to high temperatures during summer’s midday low tides has caused bleaching. #MarineLife #Invertebrate 🌊🦑

A sea anemone (*Anthopleura elegantissima*) - white with pink tentacle tips - shows off in a tidepool. This anemone is typically green-brown (dinoflagellates) or even bright green (green algae) due to the presence of symbiotic unicellular algae, but stress can cause dysbiosis, resulting in the “bleached”, white appearance of this individual.

Today's View From a Run: Looking over the cliff at Ocean Trails Reserve. Those tiny little tidepools look so inviting; I bet there are lots of little critters hiding out in there. If it wasn't a total pain to go down and up the cliff mid-run I would have been a lot more tempted to check them out.
