This Flood Alert has now been removed.  There is no longer a threat of flooding, though standing water and debris may still remain. River levels remain high today Monday 6 January 2025 following heavy rainfall over the weekend. Flooding of roads and low lying land is expected. Areas most at risk include low lying land and roads along the River Brede, particularly around Winchelsea and low lying land and roads along the River Tillingham between Broad Oak and Rye. Flooding is expected throughout today Monday 6 January 2025 as river levels remain high due to heavy rainfall. We are monitoring rainfall and river levels and clearing debris from weed screens. Avoid using low lying footpaths and any bridges near local watercourses and never drive through flood water, just 30cm of fast flowing water is enough to move your car. This message will be updated by 7pm on Monday 6 January 2025, or as the situation changes.
