Tilting train literally means the train which tilts when running. It is made from the principle by which the centrifugal force of a train, which is produced when it is running on a curved track, reduces when it is made to tilt towards the inside of the curve. The tilting train, the maximum speed of which is 200km/h, can achieve high speed on a curved track, which makes it the type of train which is fit to the topography with a lot of curves. The car bodies, each of which is formed as a single element, are made of new hybrid materials. 틸팅열차는 틸팅(Tilting)이라는 말 그대로 기울이면서 달리는 열차를 말한다. 곡선 구간을 주행할 때 차량을 곡선 안쪽으로 기울어지게 함으로써 달릴 때 생기는 원심력을 감소시키는 원리를 적용했다. 최고속도 200km/h인 틸팅열차는 곡선구간에서 고속 주행이 가능한 열차로 곡선 구간이 많은 지형에 적합하다. 차체는 일체형 신소재 복합재료로 제작되었고, 차상 및 지상 고속 검지 방식을 동시 채용해 곡선 검지 오차율을 최소화하고 승차감을 향상시켰다.
