If you weren't already following the 2022 Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha'apai eruption when it happened, it was also Krakatoa-level island-exploding heard-thousands-of-km-away wild, and there's tons of data to numerically support that wildness!

We were all witness to a (possibly) equally loud event, the Hunga Tonga explosion of 2022. The German Wikipedia states that the sound wave was audible in Alaska, 9700 km away, and the pressure wave went around the globe multiple times for at least 3 days.
