The case for a stock trading ban
After becoming a congressional leader, a politician’s stock portfolio beats out those of peers by 47 (!!!) percentage points a year through trades timed around bills and firms that later get government contracts

Wrong. If you want to make money trading stocks, get the hell out of Congress.

It’s time to ban Congressional stock trading, now!

The American people deserve elected officials who unequivocally represent them, not their stock portfolios.

Just in: "90 former members of Congress urge passage of bipartisan stock trading ban this year"

I will give an *extremely* limited defense of this in that a congressional stock trading ban probably should be coupled with a significant bump in congressional pay.
Rep. Roger Williams defends members of Congress trading stocks: "I think we gotta be careful that we don't limit Congresspeople to where they can do nothing ... from a financial standpoint, it's not easy being up in Congress."

Getting renditioned by a sec special forces team for insider trading on my own appallingly bad posts.

Trading Places, King of New York, Do the Right Thing, Malcolm X, Bob Roberts, plus all of Homicide, Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul, The Boys, Mandalorian …
This is a Bill Simmons game, but you’re stranded on a desert island. You can only have one actor’s filmography. You get it all, including cameos. But just the one performer.

I’m taking Cate Blanchett: Talented Mr. Ripley, LOTR, Life Aquatic, Black Bag, Tár, Ponyo, Hot Fuzz, Eyes Wide Shut, Thor

The hegemony people are trying to preserve by portraying police and soldiers as victims of Trump is the very hegemony they’re trading in to target vulnerable people.
