Great to visit the car dealership stunt at Parliament today by @transenvuk.bsky.social and @olord.bsky.social showing clearly just how huge and heavy cars have become making the case for fair tax by vehicle weight.

We all know our rivers are polluted. However, it’s not just from sewage, or due to the inaction of failing water companies.

What is less talked about, but in many ways worse than sewage, is road runoff.

Urge your MP to do something about this!
Stop National Highways’ toxic water pollution!

Listening to Andy Burnham on BBC Radio Manchester and the calls are mainly about: transport. Bolton caller: where’s the tram we were promised (which they were). Doesn’t personally care about the “prime minister debate”, wants to know why they spend 4 hrs commuting when they live 12 miles away

Notre ville change ! Nos rues sont peu à peu rendues aux habitants, de nouveaux arbres sont plantés et les promenades facilitées et sécurisées.

C'est le cas de la rue Chaptal dans le 9e ou celle du Docteur-Lecène dans le 13e !

🚨Cumulative cost to the exchequer of the freezes&cuts to #FuelDuty since 2010 is put at £130bn (a colossal sum given the struggle governments have had to balance the books during that time) and is now a third lower, in real terms, than it was then🚨 @rantyhighwayman.bsky.social

There's a really useful @ippr.org report out today on where UK public attitudes are regarding transport www.ippr.org/articles/eve... Some highlights:
- 91% of drivers say they'd take a journey-time hit if it made streets safer
- There is (suppressed?) demand for people- and child-friendly streets

It's sickening that TfL workers who gained a skilled worker visa in good faith have had their secure employment removed by the Government at the stroke of a pen.
