The cover depicts a GWAS Manhattan plot as a city skyline reflected onto a New York City-style subway metabolic map: organelles as boroughs, metabolites as stations, transporters as trains.

Der bulgarische Transporter, der eben im Kreisverkehr links abgebogen ist und an der Heckklappe ein Vorhängeschloss statt eines normalen Schlosses hatte, der hat mich schon etwas irritiert... 🧐

Let’s make transporters already people. I wanna see some transporter accidents. Namely. Me into a tiger.

No! No don’t reverse it you idiots!

Driverless car. Used to be sci-fi. Now all over the streets here. Waiting for transporters.

Will add that, though the study below deals specifically with megafauna’s role in regulating earth’s systems, biologists have told much the same story about the loss of diadromous fish, critical transporters of nutrients whose movements and populations modernity has thrown terribly out of whack.

Yes, I liked both of them. Pulaski had her not using transporters thing, and was likeable.

The project will explore a radically new strategy based on chaotropicity, a phenomenon that uses unique molecular transporters. A step forward towards the future of therapies.

I'm pretty good at parking, if I do say so myself. Working in garages as a mechanic for many years you learn to get cars, vans etc. in to the tightest of spaces, on ramps, on transporters and stuff. But I'll never fail to be impressed by an HGV driver reversing a massive trailer into a tight spot.

a formidable barrier. And there are so many different types of transporters there. I worked for years with this one substrate, sialic acid, and we have, - what?, 6 different types of transporters? Subunit composition, energetics, structure, binding site: all different, one substrate for all!

I worked on some integral membrane proteins of Trypanosomes in my unofficial masters. But I'm realizing that the PowerPoint cartoons of 2D membrane topology have biased how I think of transporters when I (very briefly) teach about them

Not sure, but why not check? There must lectures or “primers” on the different transport mechanisms (passive v active, ATP v ion gradients etc).

I guess the closest equivalent to “tubes” would be channels, which are passive rather than active transporters, but again - extreme over-simplification.

Are there any talks on YouTube that explain transporters at a detailed protein structure level?

I fall into a trap of thinking of them like tubes, but obvs that would create issues with protons flowing down their gradient and killing the proton motive force.

(I'm too lazy to read)

Yea, it really was. It was surprisingly good off-road, too - early Transporters had more ground clearance than one would expect, given the reduction gear in the rear drive hubs (which moved the half-axles to the top of the hubs).

Google: a company with a track record of putting together thousands of networked GPU servers in a place no human can just pop in to replace a bad MOBO or swap a gpu. Did they perfect Star Trek transporters? “Ooooh, space you say? Cool!”

Absolutely this. I fully expect major suppliers and transporters to suddenly have "issues" with NYC. Whether that be contract refusals, made up delays, etc. Capitalists have vested interests in sabotaging Socialist movements, just ask any country sanctioned by the U.S. for trying
If the state owned grocery stores don’t work out it will because of capitalist sabotage, which should be expected
