So, a drone flew over the savanna and collected relevant data over the wet season that allowed the authors to make maps of aboveground carbon density (how widespread is treecover, in all dimensions) for 2008 and 2014. The difference in those two maps is the difference in ACD (aboveground C density)

I mapped % change in tree cover across all districts:

🟢 = increase
🔴 = deforestation

Most regions saw slight gains, but some districts lost significant green areas.
