#UofC
Watching Cover-Up, the Sy Hersh doc on Netflix. Interesting to hear him talk about Chicago Police in the 50s, when he was at UofC.
Same as it ever was.

2025 was a dumpster fire but I…
1.) Moved internationally w/doggo to Chicago
2.) Saw the Indian edition of my first book published with Three Essay Collective
3.) Finished a draft of book 2 and signed a contract with UNC Press.
4.) Started teaching brilliant students who read books at UofC…

What do you think is your most interesting hobby?

I collect weird reference books.

It all started when I was in the UofC library as a student and happened upon a book called something like "A Dictionary of Imperial Chinese Titles and Official Positions." Book was riveting, absurdly niche.

Speaking of UofC economics.... give her paper a read some time.

Just spent a nice evening at University District - what a permanent urban tragedy for Calgary that 80s UofC administration refused to let LRT run through campus. Imagine stepping off a train to the dense, mixed use walkable U District - a mile away from the train across Brutalism + parking lots.

I’ve got a family member - employed in her field (actuarial science) on Bay St. UofC grad. No degree mill. Leaving the country after trying to build a life here for nearly a decade

I was emphasizing your point that the Chicago School was bad at economics.

I used to work for N.O.R.C.

I asked a PhD economist from UofC to explain how a car engine worked. He couldn't even start but he drove a white SUV.

So cars get added to GDP but their Depreciation is not subtracted for NDP.

...whether cheering for COVID at stampede, manufacturing consent for an alberta pension plan using his make-believe numbers, telling uofc students to stop protesting, or whatever this new bs is, he exists only to be the Pinnochio for calgary's fascist Geppetti.

Not if UofC IOP can't get him first!

As a sidenote, I don't know if he remembers it, but @climatekeith.bsky.social was very kind to me many years ago when he pointed out a critical error in something I wrote for the UofC Policy School Blog about a decade ago.

Matt Newville (UofC), Chiara Elmi, Bryce Vick and Nate Sullivan (James Madison University) explore geochemical pathways in the formation of Mn oxide deposits, 13 IDE, Dec 2025.

I would reach out to the reference librarian at UofC.

Bill 7’s Water Act changes raise serious ecological concerns. The amendments prioritize short-term economic use over long-term aquatic health & ecosystem integrity. Myself & 2 colleagues at the UofC broke down the changes and potential impacts: ablawg.ca/2025/12/11... #abpoli 🧵

We found kindred spirits with people at UC-Berkeley, which also wasn’t so dogmatic. (UofC, sadly, seemed to have shifted in the years after I left.)

Anyhow I was happy to be exposed to so many different kinds of theories.

Any chance any of you might states Søren Mau Monday at UofC? DM?

@jeromyyyc.bsky.social if you’re making Calgary transit more expensive, it needs to be more reliable. The app constantly feeds misinformation, buses delayed daily, connections are inefficient. My son is trying to get to UofC for exam times and it’s a daily comedy of errors. Please fix it.

Important constitutional analysis of UCP government’s forced abstinence legislation, by AB Civil Liberties Research Centre at UofC.

It simply does not hold up.

Also, I was on staff at UofC for 5 years. We got a 50% discount on classes and a masters program there was still PROHIBITIVELY expensive, even on software salary.

We just biked over to the UofC for gymnastics and the temperature difference from noon to now was really jarring.

Only alternative to a head tax is a gross receipts tax or PILOT for NU/DePaul/UofC.

The companies that keep threatening capital flight need to cough up.

At the UofC they have the Rockefellerchapel: sanctification by a gift of money.

I was a waiter at the Medici when I was a UofC student. Ribs n Bibs was a favourite. Harold's too.

"See your food," though, never did it for me . . .

I definitely clarify I was in the liberal arts when I mention UofC because otherwise the degrees of separation from crimes against humanity is uncomfortably slim
