Geoconnex Explorer is years a huge step towards our vision of a connected #WaterData future — but what does it mean for our users?

How should they use it, what can they find, and where will Geoconnex go from here? We’ve got answers in our in our new blog: internetofwater.org/blog/a-new-w...
A New Way to Discover River Data
Discover Geoconnex Explorer, the tool streamlining water data access for waterways across the United States.

The Explorer is the first public data discovery tool built on this reference system and it’s just the start. We’re entering a new era of connected, place-based #WaterData. We can’t wait to see how it supports new tools, insights, and actions for water resilience.

Congrats to the IoW team!

Want the data on that? Here's 60 years of inflow to Mundaring 'Weir' (actually a 41 m high dam), which used to be Perth's main water supply. Its yield is now so degraded that Perth gets most of its water by desalinating seawater.

The Colorado River is running dry, but it's not just drought. Over HALF the water we take from it goes to grow hay for livestock. Cities only use 12% while cattle feed gets 50%+ 🐄 #WaterCrisis #ColoradoRiver www.epa.gov/waterdata/ab... 🧵2/11

Trump budget would cut ocean data, leaving many scrambling

“We’ve worked so hard to build an incredible system and it’s running smoothly, providing data that’s important to the economy. Why would you break it?”

Trump budget would cut ocean data -- leaving boaters, forecasters, others scrambling for info
If the cuts go through, the funding hole would be so significant that just keeping the lights on would be an uphill battle.

It's here: www.bom.gov.au/waterdata/, but you'll have to navigate to the relevant gauge. The BOM site doesn't do direct links.

The same data is available here: water-monitoring.information.qld.gov.au/host.htm?ppb....

Good equipment should be built to last.

The Ranger is a piece of water data measurement kit designed to be with you for the long-haul -
and when parts eventually do wear out,
they are easily replaced instead of sending the whole unit to the dump.

It's important to check your water quality. You can check here for test results for each quarter. Most towns/cities just add chlorine to kill bacteria but that necessitates a water filtration system 😐 The data I checked last year greenville, SC has the cleanest water
