Watch the Moon Journey Across the Winter Hexagon
About once a month this winter, we can watch the Moon take a four-day journey across a field of stars termed the "Winter Hexagon."

The #WinterCircle — or #WinterHexagon — is back in the morning sky. It's an asterism, or recognizable pattern of stars, made up of 6 stars in 6 different constellations. Check out when you'll be able to see them at: buff.ly/ovdRRXQ

For my dime, #Capella is the key to the entire fall and winter sky.

The #Moon'll rise late tonight, near the Pleiades and Hyades; two of the closest star clusters to us. They're amazing with the naked eye, but stunning with binoculars. #LookUp, then check back tomorrow as the Moon hops into the #WinterHexagon and see how it changes as it goes!

Tonight! #LookUp to see the #Moon finish this month's trip across the #WinterHexagon (#WinterCircle-a-gon), where it's in a pretty little triangle with Castor and Pollux Goldstein. That other star near Pollux is Kappa Geminorum, a beautiful, mellow double star about 150 LY away.

So, the #Moon's inside the #WinterHexagon now. It'll take it four nights to get across. Here's an article I did for @SkyandTelescope a while back about watching it take this trip each month this time of year. I hope you like it! #lookUp #space

After months creeping across the sky, the #WinterHexagon has been mellowed out to a smooth and stately arch across the western sky deep into the evening; a bridge to tomorrow. Here's a photo from last night. The #Moon will have moved but Can you spot it tonight? #space
